Captain's Log, Stardate 67250.47.

The last couple of days have been good. Most of the crew have spent at least some of their time off the ship. Everyone works so hard, especially with us being understaffed. I trust that the increased downtime will help everyone keep at it longer.

There doesn't seem to be any relief coming from Starfleet Command. We are repeatedly sent into the unknown without enough resources to properly handle the situations that arise. A few experienced officers would go a long way to keeping us working at a high level. Engineering. Security. Tactical. Science. Even Medical. All without permanent department heads. Commander Talbot is having to take a much larger role in engineering than I'd like, but someone has to keep things going down there.

I don't know when we'll be getting new orders, but I have a meeting with Admiral O'Connell in about an hour. I've told Commander Talbot that he's going with me; maybe the two of us can get the Admiral to find some more crew for us. But I suspect this will just be a bit of glad-handing, a flag officer making nice with the COs under his command, rather than any sort of substantive engagement.

I've been able to catch up on mission reports from other ships in the Gamma Quadrant. Most of them are dealing with similar crew issues, but others seem to have escaped impactful staffing shortages. It's the usual ships, the one you'd expect...like the
Black Hawk. I don't begrudge Captain Geisler, but it is tiring to be struggling while some others have cups that runneth over.

Quadrant intelligence reports are pretty standard; with little fires flaring up here and there, but nothing too major. This is always good as it means we get to focus more on Starfleet's primary mission: exploration. The Glurone have been quiet and haven't tried anything new with the Qlo'ka. I'd like a chance to get back to the Qlo'ka. Nice people, even if a bit difficult to interact with at times. We'll see if that materializes.

For now, I stand ready, as always, to promote and defend the Federation in whatever way so directed.

I hope that willingness, that readiness isn't taken advantage of by Command.
