Mission:
Beacon
Location: Martinsen Quarters, Deck 4
Timeline: Mission Day 4 at 1300
Geoff's quarters had seen better days.
The usually mild-mannered pilot had not reacted well to being ordered off the Bridge. Once he'd arrived in his quarters, Geoff had lashed out. Now the floor of his room was covered in clothes, books, and personal items. Some of the things had broken when he'd thrown them against the wall, like his model of the USS Enterprise-E that his grandmother had given to him when he'd been accepted to the Academy. The Sovereign-class' port nacelle had snapped off of its pylon and there was a crack in the saucer section. Another casualty was an autographed copy of his favorite novel. The hardcover edition was now sans front cover, leaving the author's inscription and signature on the title page exposed.
Now, the young pilot sat on the floor int eh middle of the room and stared at the mess surrounding him. "Fuck me," he muttered, picking up a piece of another broken item. Holding the left arm from the small statue of Commander William Riker, he started to cry. His career was likely over. Captain Osegan was well-connected; she'd worked at Starfleet Headquarters with some big name Admiralty. A note from her in his file would easily sink his professional plans. Becoming a flight instructor at the Academy was likely off the table. Getting his name added to the plaque in Hikaru Sulu Flight Operations Building's exhibit of distinguished Starfleet Helmsmen and Navigators....no longer a possibility.
If I'm lucky, I'll be flying tugs in and out the fright hub at Rigel, he thought.
