Mission: Gamma Quadrant or Bust
Location: Medbay
Timeline: Mission Day 1 at 0000

Dr. Rush pressed the chime on the door to the Chief Medical Officer's office and awaited a response. The new ship's counselor needed to report to his new superior before he could start scheduling sessions with patient. From what he has heard about the crew of the Altai so far and their experiences and situations, he will need as many sessions as he can get. But for now he had to focus on this first meeting and making sure he can get along with his new boss.

But, of course, everyone and anyone- almost, that is- could get along with Maggie. She was overall agreeable and fairly easy going, so really, it was work to not get along with her.

Currently, she blinked at the door to her office when the chime sounded. Odd, she normally left it open. No matter. That was easily fixed. "Come in," she called.

"Good day Dr. Knight, Lieutenant Ch'doyale reporting in as your new ship's counselor. However please feel free to call me Dr. Rush, or Counselor Rush." He spoke as he stepped in front of her desk and stuck out a pale hand for the earth handshake. "It is will be a pleasure working with you I'm sure."

"Oh, of course!" exclaimed Maggie cheerfully. She rose and shook his hand, then gestured to the chairs across her desk. "I'm sure my counselor back on Ixdark will be thrilled to know we've got a permanent counselor aboard."

He took a seat and smiled towards her "Oh yes, I noticed you had a file on record for sessions you received. I didn't go too in depth however, I would prefer going over it with you in person rather then just looking at it without any context." Rush's leg crossed over the other and his fingers met forming a tip as he continued "I find that patients may something very important at the very early stages of their treatment. Then when you bring it up to them months later their opinion can be shifted entirely. That could either be because their view of their life has improved or they have began to better understand where their thinking, their understanding of themselves was previously wrong." Nodding his head which made his antenna bob along "I would love to go over those notes with you in depth if you would like to see me for sessions."

“Absolutely,” agreed Maggie. “I’ve come too far to fall back into that depression. I never want to go there again.”

"Of course not, and I would be glad to help you with that Doctor Knight. If you ever feel the need to talk or begin to experience those feelings again my door is always open for you. I was wondering if you had any recommendations of crew men who might need my assistance?" His brow furrowed a bit "I have heard about the certain behaviors of our Security Chief, he was apparently also seeking counseling and I am going to make sure to stay on top of his therapy, but besides him I mean."

Vaguely, the name Dedeker danced through her thoughts, but she supposed that would be cruel and unusual. No, as far as she could tell, He was completely sane, even if he was incorrigible. “Nobody comes to mind aside from myself,” she replied. “Although we all need a little help now and then.”

"Oh of course! My door will always be open to anyway who needs help, or even just an empathetic ear." Moving his legs to uncross them until they both touched the floor Dr. Rush opened his hands and spoke, resting them on the arms of the chair as he finished "In fact listening when something is at first bothering someone can usually save me a lot of sessions. So really I'm trying my best to put myself out of a job."

"Isn't that the way we always work?" Maggie asked with a grin. "Granted, some jobs will never be obsolete, but we can try. And trying makes us better at it."

"Very true, it's what makes us the perfect people for these sorts of positions." He stood up and continued "I think I will be on my way Dr. Knight. I was a pleasure to meet you. If you need a session let me know at any time. Thank you for your help as well." Making his way to the door and to his exit.

"It was nice meeting you, Doctor," Maggie replied. "I look forward to working with you."
